Double secret

Got you! ☜(゚ヮ゚☜)

You should watch

And here’s why.

First, let’s look at the top 3 most popular animation series1 according to IMDB.

Jujutsu Kaisen … is really just Naruto + Demon Slayer
Yuji = Naruto
Megumi = Sasuke
Nobara = Sakura
Saturo = Kakashi
and don’t try to convince me otherwise.

You can’t honestly tell me after watching 5 seasons of Attack on Titan that you were satisified with that ending.

One Piece on the other hand–S tier.

Oh, but Brittny there’s too many episodes. I don’t have time.

First off, One Piece has a disgustingly low amount of filler episodes.2

Therefore, there’s a high percentage of events that are important to the main storyline. What you watch is related to the overall theme and message. Not like Naruto, which has a total of 220 with 90 filler episodes making it 42% filler.3

Don’t get me wrong I also like Naruto but my point is if you’re going to invest so much time into a series, it’s worth noting that they’re not wasting your time by padding the series unnecessarily.

Oh, but Brittny that doesn’t help that there’s still 1155 episodes and counting (because the series is still ongoing).

Let’s do some math here. In this scenario you want to hammer out One Piece as fast as you can so we’re only considering canon4 episodes. An average episode has a 24 minute run-time.

… but we can be even more realistic about the time.

Normally, an episode starts with an intro and a recap–this can mean the episode really starts like 5 minutes in. Let’s also not forget we have an outro and a preview for the next episode which also takes about 5 minutes. So if we’re being real about it. That runtime can be cut down by 10 minutes but let’s round it down to 8 to be conservative. This can take into account watching each new intro and outro.

Let’s redo the math with that in mind, where an average episode would be about 16 minutes in length.

Here’s a scenario. My commute is 1 hour in the morning and 1.5 hours in the evening. This means I could watch 9 episodes during this time.

We got:

  1. Jujutsu Kaisen
  2. Attack on Titan
  3. One Piece

1,061*24 = 25,464 minutes

25,464/60 = 424.4 hours

424.4/24 = 17.683 days

That’s just over 2.5 weeks–what else are you really doing?

1,061*16 = 16,976 minutes

25,464/60 = 282.93 hours

424.4/24 = 11.789 days

Now, we’re at about 1.5 weeks!

  4. I probably should have noted that canon means that it was in the manga because One Piece started originally in this format.↩︎
